DTF vs screen printing: which should you choose?

Choose DTF for full-colour designs, small and medium runs, many different designs, and quick turnarounds: there are no screens or setup fees. Screen printing becomes cheaper for large runs (usually 100+ of one simple design in a few colours) and gives the softest hand-feel.

Setup

DTF has no screens, so one-off and mixed-design jobs cost the same per metre. Screen printing charges per colour and per screen.

Detail and colour

DTF prints photographic detail and gradients in full colour. Screen printing suits bold spot colours.

Feel and durability

Modern DTF is soft and stretchy and survives many washes; a well-cured screen print is softer still and very durable.

Fabrics

DTF presses onto cotton, polyester, blends, canvas and more without pre-treatment.
